After a fruitful career as a chef in Seattle’s culinary scene, Derik Eggert pursued his lifelong dream of becoming a hairdresser, graduating from Seattle’s Aveda Institute in 2008. Even as he honed his own cutting and coloring skills, his thirst for knowledge quickly brought him back into the classroom, graduating once again as an Educator in 2011. From there, he has guided hundreds of students toward their dreams, as well as directing the training of fellow instructors as Lead Educator. Simultaneously, he built his career in one of Seattle’s top Aveda salons, and is deeply grateful for the incredible connections and unmatched mentoring that he embraced there over the course of nine years He is proud to bring his expertise, as well as his spirit of community and learning to Salon Tagua!
Throughout his career, Derik has traveled far and wide seeking a deeper understanding of Aveda’s cutting and coloring techniques. His haircuts are mindful and inspired by the world’s top stylists, including precise and stylish men’s cuts. As a colorist, he is a blonding specialist, executes brilliant reds, and loves to reveal the beautiful spectrum that brunette hair has to offer. He is fully trained and certified in the art of Balayage and the Brazilian Blowout, maximizing the finest details of your styling. His experiences styling for fashion shows and on a bridal team have been enriching, teaching him how to develop incredible styles that range from elegant to whimsical, all using Aveda’s naturally derived products. Most important to him is developing a rapport with each guest to suit their every need and concern about maintaining beautiful, expressive hair.
With Salon Tagua, Derik looks forward to continuing his dedication to Aveda’s message of global outreach and sustainability practices. Locally, his preservation efforts have raised over $50,000 for the Puget Soundkeepers Alliance throughout his career. Globally, he has cherished the opportunity to travel to India with the Aveda Earth Month team for mentoring and participation in their philanthropic efforts within the land and community that inspires the company’s ethics and product line. He feels blessed that his career with Aveda has allowed him to combine his passion for travel and his pursuit of higher education – be it guiding his students across the globe for advanced training from the UK’s top stylists, styling for Mercedes Benz at New York’s Fashion Week, or attending hair shows and trainings across the country. At the end of each day, his Midwest upbringing keeps him grounded and humble to the individual needs of each client – be it for their hair or soul! Through precision cutting, impeccable coloring, luxurious massage, customized aromatherapy, and holistic advising – Derik will make you shine, inside and out.
Ayla, born and raised in Canada, began her hairstyling career in 2000. Within a year of completing her apprenticeship program at an Aveda Salon, she discovered her passion for Aveda and knew she wanted to be a part of the network. She continued her education at the highest level by attending the Vancouver Aveda Academy and graduating with honors in 2006. Ayla excelled in hairstyling and became a certified Aveda educator/leader and stylist in both the USA and Canada where she has mentored many students and educators under her guidance. Ayla continues to strive on continuous education and being the best she can be. She prides herself as a certified educator and as an Aveda cutting Purefessional with the ability to teach ongoing advanced education to salons within the North West of the USA.
Ayla continues to inspire herself and others in the industry. Knowing she always wanted to one day put her vision to life, she continued to pursue and understand the beauty industry and studied leadership and business management wanting to excel in all domains within the corporation.
Ayla remains committed to her own continued education holding to the philosophy that education never ends. She is passionate about building strong relationships with her team and with her guests, bringing value to the community and as an individual.
Ayla’s driving force is to create and allow people to feel and look beautiful inside & out. Hair is like a fingerprint, not one head of hair is the same so why treat it as such? She loves texture, dimensional color and transformations. Ayla loves introducing changes and admires keeping up with ongoing trends. She enjoys a wide range of styles, from classic to erotic while adding her personal touch. She finds a lot of satisfaction in providing helpful tips for every day styling. Guests who love to keep their style fresh and evolving will want Ayla to work her magic.
As a former leader of an editorial team, Ayla enjoys the high pace of editorial work, the rush of achieving high fashion and the ability to work with many people entice her.
She enjoys the intimacy of weddings and loves to play a part in the big day. She embraces the recreation of great bridal styles that plays a role in your special day.
Ayla’s mission as a stylist/educator and owner is to continue to inspire everyone with acts of kindness, we call this a daymaker! As life becomes busy and at times overwhelming, she wants you to have a place of serenity where you can relax and unwind. With thorough consultations, stimulating conversations and embracing Aveda rituals, her hope is to make you feel comfortable and better than when you walked in. Being part of a family and a great community is very important to her and with the power of touch, she plans to build strong durable relationships. She aims to connect with her guests and help the surrounding communities. Together we can make this a better place.

A true Washingtonian, Kelli grew up in Snohomish County with both her parents and three sisters. Married to her high school sweetheart, Kelli and her husband strive to achieve their dreams. After deciding to take the plunge into hair Kelli toured four different beauty schools and decided on Gary Manuel Aveda Institute, knowing right away it was her best opportunity to excel and succeed. Graduating in January of 2018 she is ready to kick off the New Year, eager to learn all things hair related. Derik was one of Kelli’s instructors during her time at the Aveda Institute. After seeking out Salon Tagua, Kelli knew it would be her new hair home.
Spending time with both Derik and Ayla, she instantly knew that they would be the perfect mentors to begin her career and help her become the best stylist she can be.
When Kelli thinks of hair, she doesn’t just see it as an outside accessory, she sees it as an expression of someones inner core. Kelli was intrigued but the hair industry because of the way she felt after having her hair done. What motivated her was the feeling of being your best self, wanting to get out in the world and face it head on. She knew if hair did that for her, she could do that for others, giving that same feeling she got when she left the salon. “Getting your hair done shouldn’t be an errand, but an experience!”
Tori was born in Chehalis, Washington where she has lived all her life. She attended the Gary Manuel Aveda Institute in Seattle where she graduated in June of 2017. While at the Aveda Institute, Tori worked side by side with Derek and Ayla where they encouraged her to approach her career with strong education an emphasis on continually being the best version of herself while inspiring others to do the same. Tori strives to follow the various mission statements Aveda has set out by incorporating them into her day to day life as well as in her career. It is Tori’s mission to advance her knowledge in the industry while serving others to create the best possible version of themselves. One of her most desirable qualities is her ability to connect and empathize with everyone she encounters.
Tori’s mission is to bring her passion into her work everyday. Like Aveda, Tori will work on reducing her carbon foot print in the workplace and in her life outside the salon. Tori is eager to provide services to the community that simultaneously coincides with the goals of her and her team. She will strive to grow as a stylist and looks forward to continuing her education at Salon Tagua.
Born and raised in Washington, Nicole grew up in Lynnwood with her Mom, Dad and little sister. After high school Nicole worked in the restaurant business waitressing where she realized she enjoyed taking care of people but wanted something more one on one and creative. Her Mom suggested Cosmetology and she started her hair journey at Toni & Guy Hairdressing Academy. She graduated 2012 then found her love for Aveda after discovering their organic products, customizable color line and advanced education opportunities. Nicole found Tagua and knew she wanted to be apart of the team! She loves connecting with whoever is in her chair and giving them a cut and color they love! Whether it’s blended natural colors, bleach blondes or fun bright tones Nicole loves doing it all!
Mission: What Nicole loves about hair is how good it can make you feel! When your hair looks great you feel great. Nicole loves being able to give that to her clients. The technical approach and creativity is what Nicole’s passionate about! She strives to have every guest feel pampered while in the salon and feel beautiful leaving. She loves creating natural looks with highlighting, color glossing and balayage. She enjoys the challenge of a color correction and is also trained in hair extension application.

Lo has been getting her hands into hair and makeup since she was a little kid. Always looking for a creative outlet as a teenager, she starting cutting and coloring her own hair after years of persuading her parents to let her do it herself.
Following her passion for makeup, she attended the Make Up Designory in Burbank, CA, receiving certification in editorial, film and television makeup. After working as a bridal makeup artist and a few odd jobs along the way, Lo finally decided in 2011 to go to cosmetology school and pursue hair full time. She graduated from school in Northern California before relocating to Seattle, WA.
Once in Seattle, Lo completed a rigorous advanced training program and honed her skills at one of Seattle’s top Aveda salons. Through out her time there she became the Editorial Makeup Lead and eventually decided to expand her skillset once again by becoming a licensed educator in 2016.
In her time as a stylist and educator, Lo knows that true creativity is unleashed by deep technical understanding of her craft. In pursuit of that knowledge, she dedicated herself to full time education at the Seattle Aveda Institute for 2 years, focusing on deepening her technical understanding of hair color and getting back to the fundamentals of hair. This time allowed her to focus on the fine details of delivering quality, bespoke hair.
Lo is a multi-disciplinary powerhouse. Hair colorist. Makeup artist. Hair cutter. She has a large amount of pride in being able to cater to all of a clients’ needs. Although, her greatest passion is hair color. She specializes in balayage and creative foiling, fashion colors and color corrections. Lo wants a challenge and loves delivering modern looks that are tailored to each individual.
Lo infuses a touch of fashion and current trends by using new styling techniques on her guests to keep it fresh. She loves to educate clients on how to create their dream hair at home. Ask her for a styling or makeup lesson and she’ll book you an appointment that will change your life.
Beauty is as beauty does. Lo strives to better the world through environmental sustainability, responsible beauty and fashion, as well as local community fundraising. She believes that a trip to the salon should be good for your soul, not just your roots. Lo creates a welcoming and relaxing environment that allows trust, intention and passion to thrive. Be bold and live authentically. Hair is fun, let it be an expression of who you are!
Jasmine has travelled the United States most of her life. Now residing the North End of Washington, she wants to set an example that will help impact the planet we live in. Anything we can do helps because the rate we are going we will not have enough for the future generation. When she is not busy assisting others, you will find her playing her instruments. She enjoys playing guitar and the ukulele.
It is Jasmine’s mission to make your trip to the salon more than just another appointment, but a truly enjoyable experience. Jasmine is excited to grow and learn with Salon Tagua and cannot wait to help brighten your day!
